GRE and GMAT Preparation Courses
If you want to go to the graduate school program of your choice, you need to do your best on the GRE or GMAT exam. LCI can help you prepare for your exam quickly and efficiently.
What is the GRE? What is the GMAT?
The GRE (the Graduate Records Exam) and the GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) are standardized tests used by U.S. universities as an entrance exam. Graduate schools use the GRE and GMAT to determine which students to admit to their graduate school programs. Your GRE or GMAT score plus your undergraduate GPA are the major criteria most graduate schools will use to judge your ability to do well in graduate school.
GRE and GMAT Preparation
If you want to prepare for the GRE or GMAT quickly and efficiently, LCI can help. LCI combines English as a Second Language experience with test preparation expertise to ensure our students receive efficient and effective preparation for the GRE and GMAT exams. LCI has helped many students to effectively prepare for these tests.
You can improve your score by improving your ability to take these exams. This is LCI’s focus: helping you improve your score as quickly and as efficiently as possible, thereby improving your chances of being accepted to the grad school program of your choice.
LCI focuses on strategies to maximize use of test-takers’ time. For example, non-native speakers generally possess the math skills necessary to score well on the test but find that due to time constraints they are often unable to finish the exam or have to rush through individual questions too quickly. At LCI, the student will learn techniques, short cuts, and specialized strategies designed to help the test-taker complete the exam within the allotted time.
Different test-takers have different skills and different challenges. LCI has the ability to customize your study program to fit your needs. We understand that test preparation needs are not “one size fits all”, so we offer flexible and affordable instruction. We evaluate each student’s needs and advise him or her on the best way to prepare for standardized admission tests. LCI understands how valuable your time is, and we strive to make the graduate admissions process as painless as possible.
Duration of the Program
LCI’s standard program is a total of 36 hours. Most of our programs run Monday through Thursday, three hours per day. This schedule allows you to complete the program in three weeks, but we have the ability to work with you and find a schedule that fits your needs. LCI also offers private instruction.
Why Choose LCI’s Test Preparation Program?
- LCI offers 36 hours of classroom instruction. Competitors typically offer only 18 - 21 hours and sell additional hours as self-study hours, which are without a teacher. LCI offers more hours (36 versus 21) and all of our hours are with a test preparation instructor. If you would prefer a self study program, please see LCI’s Self Study Program Page.
- We can customize our classes based on students’ needs. For example, for LCI’s 36-hour GRE program, we can allocate ten 3-hour classes to math and two 3-hour classes to verbal for engineering students whose graduate programs require high math scores while accepting lower verbal scores. For students whose graduate programs require higher verbal scores, LCI’s GRE program can allocate eight or nine sessions to developing verbal skills and three or four to math.
- LCI has the flexibility to offer classes at convenient times for you. We are able to schedule around your academic classes and other obligations. LCI can also schedule classes on either weekdays or the weekend, whichever works best for you.
- LCI has proprietary test prep materials, but we do not sell them, which allows us to use the best materials, regardless of the author. Since we are not in the test prep book market, we are able to use a combination of the very best materials, including our own, Kaplan’s, Barron’s and Princeton’s.
Below is a summary of the key differences between LCI and the competition discussed above:
