English as a Second Language, more commonly referred to as “ESL,” has become a popular term in the last few years, and it's easy to see why. At increasing rates, non-native speakers are quickly finding the advantages of learning English as a second language. Our ESL programs and classes offer you the coursework that not only teaches you to write and speak English, but also teaches you how to use the language in your everyday life. Once this understanding begins, you are positioned to achieve higher academic degrees and quickly move up the corporate ladder in the working world. LCI English Language Services offers many courses and programs to help you quickly achieve your dream of learning English as a second language.
ESL lessons range in topic and nature at LCI. While each ESL lesson is aimed toward improving your understanding of English as a second language, various concentrations will help guide you in the individual direction that is right for you. LCI hires only the most qualified ESL teachers. Each instructor must hold a Master's Degree or be CELTA/TEFL/TESOL certified with a minimum of three years of experience as an ESL teacher. All current LCI instructors have at least five years of ESL teaching experience and are carefully selected by an educational director, who has more than eighteen years of experience. In other words, LCI teachers know ESL! All of our teachers are committed to seeing each and every student succeed. Knowing that learning English as a second language is challenging, each instructor works individually to help each student grow into a strong English speaker.
Each ESL learner comes to ESL lessons with a different approach and for different reasons. There is no one right method for all students; rather, students need a variety of different methods in order to succeed as a second language learner. Not only do students attend LCI to learn to speak and write English, but they also learn the ins and outs of adjusting to American culture. For this reason, various theories behind teaching punctuation, grammar, and sentence structure are combined with lessons in listening, understanding, and participating in conversations. Additionally, we believe that students are best suited to learn English as second language in the real world context in which it is spoken, which means that you should live and learn surrounded by the English language and American culture.
While learning English as a second language may seem overwhelming, it is actually quite exciting. Our ESL classes not only help you become better writers and speakers of English, but they also help you begin to feel more comfortable in the American culture. At LCI, you can quickly map your road to success.
